Fiction. I decided to read this since the movie came out and I thought it looked pretty good, so I wanted to read the book first. And the rule holds true: the movie was good, and the book was indeed better. Although it came out a number of years ago, I think the plot and characters of the novel still stand up to scrutiny. I found the ideas of manipulation, group mindset, and using technology to thwart an enemy still pertinent today. I would definitely give it a read, especially if you plan on watching the movie.
